Ahead of the novel Corona Virus, India has gone on a complete lockdown leaving many people in distress. To address the needs of the elderly, financially disturbed, and needy, the Chennai Hotels Association has served food for more than 10 lakh poor people across the Chennai city.
R. Rajkumar, Secretary, Chennai Hotels Association, told Chefbharath.com, in a phone conversation, “It is terrible to see people without food. Thus we had decided to give food for free. Along with us, many other organizations joined us and contributed whatever they can.”
“More than 80% of employees in our organization had given full support along with the collaboration of Chefs, Police departments, volunteers to help the needy people out there. Despite that our primary duty is to give food to people, who are in need. We followed certain precautionary measures in all stations because of the proliferation of COVID-19 in Chennai alone.”, he added.
According to a member of the Chennai Hotels Association, Venugopal, “Till now we had distributed more than 10 lakh food for poor people. In addition to that, we have also created awareness about COVID-19 among the public. ” The Tamilnadu Chief Minister, Mr. Edappadi K Palaniswami, had tweeted congratulating the Chennai Hotels Association and Police departments for their priceless work. He mentioned, that incredibly they are working as heroes amid COVID-19.
