Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has followed in the footsteps of fellow cricketers like Virat Kohli and Yuvraj Singh by entering the restaurant business. He has launched a high-end dining establishment called “Joharfa” in Hyderabad.
The newly launched restaurant boasts an extensive menu that blends Mughlai, Persian, Arabian, and Chinese influences. According to Siraj, the venture is more than just a business move; it’s a tribute to the city that shaped his identity. “Joharfa is very close to my heart. Hyderabad gave me my identity, and this restaurant is my way of giving something back to a place where people can come together, share a meal, and enjoy flavours that feel like home,” he said in a press statement.
The kitchen is helmed by an experienced team of chefs, who bring authentic cooking techniques and the freshest ingredients, aiming to provide patrons with an elevated culinary experience. Siraj follows in the footsteps of several Indian cricket stars who have pursued food and beverage ventures. Virat Kohli owns two successful establishments — Nueva in Delhi, known for its South American and vegan offerings, and the One8 Commune franchise, with branches in major cities including Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Kolkata, and Hyderabad.
Virat Kohli, a prominent name in Indian cricket, owns the popular “One8 Commune” chain, with outlets in major Indian cities. His restaurants are known for their upscale ambiance and diverse global cuisines, including options inspired by his vegetarian lifestyle.
Other notable cricketers in the culinary world include:
Kapil Dev: Runs “Eleven’s” in Chandigarh, a cricket-themed restaurant serving North Indian delicacies.
Shikhar Dhawan: Owns “The Flying Catch” in Dubai, a sports café.
Ravindra Jadeja: Operates “Jaddu’s Food Field” in Rajkot, a 24/7 vegetarian restaurant.

Zaheer Khan: Owns “Zaheer Khan’s Dine Fine” in Pune, offering a mix of Indian and international dishes.
Ambati Rayudu: Opened “Barracks & Anteroom” in Hyderabad, featuring a military-themed decor and a sophisticated dining experience.
These ventures highlight how cricketers are expanding their careers beyond the sport, creating unique culinary experiences for their fans and food enthusiasts alike.
