Paris Baguette made its debut in Malaysia in collaboration with Paris Baguette Singapore PLC and Berjaya Food Berhad.

The brand-new store is situated in the Pavilion KL shopping centre in Kuala Lumpur. Five further locations are planned at malls in the Malaysian capital before a larger extension to other cities in the nation.

Paris Baguette’s Malaysian debut gives the bakery café chain a vital presence in the Southeast Asian market and will help to operational efficiency throughout the region, according to Berjaya Food, which will run the brand in the nation.

In the Malaysian state of Johor, Paris Baguette Singapore announced in June 2022 that it will invest RM130 million ($29.6 million) to build the first Paris Baguette halal-certified bakery manufacturing and distribution centre.

The facility, which will also supply Paris Baguette stores in in Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia and Indonesia, is expected to be operational by June 2023.

Datuk Sydney Lawrence Quays

“We are thrilled with the grand opening of the Paris Baguette store in Malaysia and to be the principal operator of the brand locally. With the opening of the first store, Malaysians can anticipate more stores to be opened in cities across the country,” said Datuk Sydney Lawrence Quays, Group CEO, Berjaya Food.

Cambodia, Indonesia, Singapore, and Vietnam were the first four Southeast Asian countries where Paris Baguette opened stores before expanding to Malaysia.

Additionally, the business has operations in South Korea, China, France, the US, and the UK, where it debuted its first location in London in October 2022.

The 1988-founded Paris Baguette is a division of the SPC Group, a South Korean food juggernaut.

Over 4,000 Paris Baguette locations are currently run by SPC Group worldwide, including 3,400 in South Korea.

In Malaysia, Berjaya Food also manages around 360 Starbucks locations, and by July 2023, it hopes to have 400 Starbucks locations there.
