Bread shelves in Japan were taken away due to the discovery of a “small animal” that was thought to be rat. The production of bread at the Tokyo factory and Pasco Shikishima Corp was discontinued. According to the data, 104,000 packages were recalled. The company apologized and promised compensation.

“We will do our utmost to strengthen our quality controls so that this will never happen again. We ask for your understanding and your cooperation,” it said in a statement of the company.

Two individuals who purchased bread from a store in Gunma Prefecture have reportedly raised concerns with the company about revealing fungus inside the bread, as per Japanese media reports.

According to Pasco, the bread was sold in various regions, including Ibaraki, Niigata, Kanagawa, Fukushima, Aomori and Tokyo.Japan has relatively high food safety standards.Food spills have been a concern in the country recently, with 1,000 schoolchildren being exposed to milk and two people falling ill after eating steak at upscale restaurants.
