German Doner Kebab (GDK), a brand internationally known for its “revolutionary kebabs,” has confirmed its entry into the Indian market, reflecting a major classified innovation in the fast-casual dining space. The brand, which is celebrated for its continuous advancements in dining and its appeal to younger generations globally, views India as a key market for its next phase of rapid international expansion. This move into India is part of GDK’s aggressive global growth strategy, which has already established a strong foothold with over 170 restaurants across the UK, Ireland, Sweden, North America, and the Middle East.
Strategic Partnership and Ambitious Rollout
To facilitate its extensive entry and expansion in the country, GDK has signed a significant Master Franchise Agreement with GBC, an established franchise partner in India. This landmark agreement sets out a highly ambitious plan to open a total of 450 GDK restaurants in India over the next 15 years. The rollout will begin with the first outlet scheduled to open in 2026, followed by a plan to open one new outlet per year until 2026. GBC is committed to adapting the brand’s signature products to create a culturally relevant dining experience for the diverse Indian consumer base.
The GDK Dining Concept and Target Audience
German Doner Kebab distinguishes itself in the fast-casual segment through its focus on high-quality ingredients and a unique take on the traditional kebab. The menu features premium lean meats wrapped in a signature toasted waffle bread, complemented by handmade sauces that fuse traditional flavors with modern flair. The innovative menu includes creative offerings such as the Boss Box, OG Kebab, and Gym Box, catering to various tastes and dietary preferences. GDK’s concept, which blends quality food with cultural innovation and a contemporary restaurant environment, has built a loyal following among Gen Z and Millennial customers globally.
