Surinder Singh has been appointed as the Area Director – Operations & General Manager of Taj Chandigarh. With an illustrious career spanning over three decades in luxury hospitality, Singh brings a proven legacy of leadership and service excellence to his new role.
New Role and Responsibilities
In his new capacity, Singh’s responsibilities extend beyond Taj Chandigarh itself:
- Area Oversight: He will be responsible for overseeing the hotels and operations across the entire region encompassing Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and Jammu & Kashmir.
- Strategic Focus: He will focus on enhancing revenue across the region by driving experiential hospitality initiatives to elevate guest engagement and create distinctive value.
Background and Key Achievements
A visionary hotelier, Singh has held multiple key leadership positions within the Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL):
- Previous Role: He most recently served as the Area Director – Operations for Delhi NCR & Haryana and the General Manager of Taj City Centre, Gurugram.
- Iconic Hotels: His experience includes successfully leading operations at prominent IHCL properties such as Taj Mahal Lucknow, Blue Diamond Pune (IHCL SeleQtions), Vivanta New Delhi Dwarka, and an earlier tenure at Taj Chandigarh.
- Milestones: During his time at Taj City Centre, Gurugram, the hotel achieved significant revenue milestones, high employee engagement, and superior guest satisfaction. The property also earned a Gold Certification by Earth Check for its focus on sustainability and operational excellence.
- Industry Leadership: Beyond his hotel roles, Singh is active in industry development, holding positions as Vice President of the Hotel & Restaurant Association of Northern India (HRAI) and Executive Committee Member of the Hotel Association of India (HAI).
