In a flavorful celebration of cultural diplomacy and gastronomic delights, the Sri Lanka Consulate General in Karachi joined hands with the Marriot Hotel and Quality Event Pvt. Ltd. to orchestrate a two-day Sri Lanka Food Festival at the prestigious Marriot Hotel in Karachi. This culinary extravaganza, which unfolded from September 9 to 10, 2023, was meticulously crafted to showcase the rich and diverse culinary heritage of Sri Lanka, spotlighting authentic Sri Lankan cuisine and the world-renowned Ceylon tea.
The festival was strategically timed as part of a broader series of events commemorating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The Honorable Minister of Home Affairs of the Sindh Province in Pakistan, Mr. Haris Nawaz, graced the occasion as the chief guest, infusing the event with prestige and significance. Drawing an enthusiastic crowd of approximately 150 invited guests, the festival became a gathering of cultural and culinary enthusiasts alike.
A focal point of the festival was the mesmerizing performances by Chandana Wickramasinghe & the Dancers Guild, complemented by the melodious tunes of Sri Lankan singer Sonal Prabashitha.
