To mark World Environment Day 2024, Marriott India introduced a new initiative called ‘Two Trees in. Room: Seeking Nature’ Enthusiastic hotels from various parts of the country participated in this program.
On June 5, 2024, Marriott India launched the Two Trees per Room initiative and planted thousands of trees across the country. Each participating hotel committed to plant two trees in each room, thus making an important contribution to preserving biodiversity and restoring the environment. This initiative fits perfectly with the theme of this year’s World Environment Day, which emphasizes the importance of restoring and preserving habitats.
The planting of trees in the most favorable locations was made possible by Marriott India’s partnership with leading reforestation organizations. The program not only helps to restore ecosystems and fight climate change, but also supports local communities by providing a greener environment and increasing biodiversity.
Sanjay Gupta, Chairman of the Marriott India Business Council, shares, “We believe that sustainability should be at the forefront of hospitality, and Two Trees per Room is a testament to our dedication to environmental responsibility. Through this initiative, we hope to make a meaningful contribution to the preservation of our planet for generations to come.”
A great example of the impact of the initiative is the Courtyard by Marriott Mahabaleshwar. The Sahyadri Mountains, where the hotel is located and surrounded by mountains with natural beauty, have welcomed 176 saplings to the property. This effort greatly improved the hotel’s green environment and strengthened its commitment to environmental protection.
In addition to this initiative, Marriott India remains committed to sustainability through a number of innovative practices, including energy efficient operations and waste reduction programs. Incorporating sustainability into its operations, Marriott India is establishing new benchmarks in sustainable hospitality.
