In the ever-evolving world of corporate gifting, a seismic shift is underway. The age-old practice of presenting tokens of appreciation to clients, employees, and partners has transformed into an art form, shaped by cutting-edge technology and a deep-rooted commitment to personalization and sustainability. We find ourselves in the midst of “The Corporate Gifting Revolution.”
In this digital era, gifting has transcended mere transactions. It’s become a means to strengthen relationships, forge lasting connections, and communicate values. The dynamics of corporate gifting are now infused with an intricate blend of innovation, personal touch, and ecological consciousness. As the business world adapts to the fast-paced, tech-driven landscape, the expectations surrounding corporate gifts have evolved, prompting a reevaluation of the traditional norms.
At the heart of this revolution lies personalization, where the one-size-fits-all approach is giving way to bespoke offerings tailored to the unique preferences and needs of recipients. The art of personalization extends beyond engraving a name on a gift; it seeks to create a narrative, a story that resonates with the recipient, reinforcing the human connection between the gifter and the giftee.
Simultaneously, a heightened commitment to environmental sustainability has taken center stage. In a world acutely aware of climate change and environmental responsibility, companies are reimagining their gifting strategies. Eco-friendly options, from sustainable materials to thoughtful packaging choices, have become key components of a conscientious gifting approach. Let’s delve into “The Corporate Gifting Revolution,” exploring how technology, personalization, and sustainability have redefined corporate gifting in the digital era with some experts.
Pioneering Eco-Friendly Gifting Trends
“We are committed to shaping the future of gifting by transitioning from plastic to steel and now to bamboo and eco-friendly materials. Our journey towards sustainability doesn’t stop there – we’re actively expanding our range to maximize bamboo and eco-friendly items and are diligently replacing leather merchandise with high-quality vegan leather. Even our packaging is consciously eco-friendly, avoiding shrink wrap in favor of sustainable paper alternatives. Our mission is to provide eco-conscious consumers with a diverse and eco-friendly product selection, always emphasizing sustainability and ethical practices. We’re dedicated to making gifting not just a gesture of kindness but also a testament to our commitment to a greener, more responsible future.” expressed Ashik M. Chajjed, Founder, of Ossify Corporate Gifts, on the current gifting trends.
Sustainability Takes Center Stage in Corporate Gifting
Jay N. Bhatt, Founder & Partner, TrendSetters also shared his views saying, “Sustainability in corporate gifting is not merely a trend; it’s a resounding shift towards a more eco-conscious, meaningful approach. The materials used, such as Lotus fiber, Banana fiber, and plantable products, resonate with corporates pursuing sustainability goals and CSR initiatives. Admittedly, they come at a premium cost, but this is a testament to their uniqueness. The absence of the polished finish seen in high-end products is precisely what makes them special. Take, for instance, the soaring demand for bags made from imported cactus leather—a prime example of sustainability’s growing appeal, even though it may be costlier.
Sustainable gifting has not only entered the limelight but also pushed for sustainable packaging, adding to the expense. Meanwhile, the resurgence of plant-based gifts like house plants, which can be reused or recycled, is turning heads. In contrast, the allure of visually appealing yet unreliable Chinese products cannot be ignored, though sustainable gifting promises better quality and reliability. The key concerns are not just cost but also durability and the distinctive environmental impact, making sustainable gifting a choice that resonates with those advocating for a positive environmental footprint.”
Shifting to ‘Concept’ Gifting and Sustainability
Richa Johri, Founder of Short Circuit, Concept Corporate Gifting+ added, “In my journey of a decade in the Gifting industry with my company Short Circuit (Shortcircuit. in), there has been a transformation in gifting trend. The major shift in it is “concept” or “thoughtful” gifting rather just conventional utility products. It is more of a tool for “brand” representation than just for sake of it. The concept of a brand e-store introduced by my company also is a technological shift that is trending. Major Brands now do not prefer eatables, or utility (crockery, home appliances, etc) but sustainable gifting too which starts right from the packaging of it. Some of the examples are DIY plantable kits, plantable stationery kits, and sustainable raw materials. This promotes not only the brand as an environmentally conscious company but also is sending a social message for awareness of sustainability.”
The Evolution of Corporate Gifting in the Modern Era
Sujeet Mishra, Co-Founder & CEO, Winni added, “Corporate gifting has undergone a subtle but significant transformation over the years. Pre-COVID, traditional gifts like electronics, stationery, and dry fruits dominated the landscape, particularly during festive occasions like Diwali. Dry fruits were the go-to choice, offering a balance of tradition and longevity. However, a noticeable shift has occurred, as the conventional mithai has given way to more contemporary options. The rise of bakery items and chocolates reflects the changing preferences, primarily driven by the extended shelf life and hygiene considerations.
Western influences and the influx of branded, packaged products have played a pivotal role in this shift. Even companies like Cadbury have witnessed their Diwali revenues skyrocket. With organizations now reallocating budget resources, post-pandemic, towards gifting to boost employee morale, the dynamics of corporate gifting are poised for further evolution. This transformation underscores not only the enduring importance of corporate gifting but also the adaptable nature of traditions in a changing world, offering a glimpse into the corporate landscape’s future as it balances tradition with modernity.”
This transformation emphasizes the fusion of personalization, sustainability, and technology, with a departure from traditional offerings towards bespoke, eco-conscious choices. As the gifting world adapts to digital trends, it envisions a future where innovation and ethical considerations define the art of corporate gifting, connecting businesses, clients, and employees in a more meaningful, eco-friendly manner.
