Premium Casual Dining, one of the growing segments of food service market has a new competitor in the race. The Capital market Investor Aditya Birla Group is all set to collaborate with Chef-Restaurateur Rahul Akerkar to build premium casual dining restaurant chains in various parts of India.
“High disposable income among the rising middle class in India, and the expansion of the urban cosmopolitan lifestyle is driving the boom in dining out behaviour. Therefore, the demand for premium casual dining restaurants (PCDR) is expected to increase across India as consumers seek new dining experiences,” Aditya Birla Management Corporation director and ABNA Founder Aryaman Vikram Birla said.
Following the pandemic, there has been an observed increase in the amount of money that people are allocating towards dining experiences outside of their homes. This shift in consumer behaviour has resulted in a surge in demand for restaurants, leading to a boom in India’s expansive conglomerates in this particular market. These conglomerates have actively begun to make their presence known within the dining industry, in order to capitalize on this newfound opportunity for growth and expansion.
“I am thrilled to join the team at ABNA and introduce our latest concept—a casual, neighbourhood, restaurant for all seasons, weeknight dates, or lunches with a co-worker. The food with a European backbone, is an ode to my mixed Indian and European parentage and my travels across the globe,” quotes Akerkar.
