In a momentous event, the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Western India (HRAWI) re-elected Mr. Pradeep Shetty as its President during the 73rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on September 16, 2023. Mr. Shetty, who currently serves as the Director of Maharaja Hotels, brings a wealth of experience to his role as the President, having been an active member of the association for over a decade.
One notable aspect of Mr. Shetty’s commitment to the hospitality industry is his concurrent position as the Vice President of the Federation of Hotel & Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI). This dual role underscores his dedication to the betterment of the industry on a national scale.
In his re-election speech, Mr. Shetty expressed his gratitude and shared his vision for the upcoming term. He highlighted the association’s ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability and its collaboration with the Government’s ‘Mission Life’ initiative. Mr. Shetty stated, “Our pledge to save the environment underscores our dedication to adopting environmentally conscious practices within the hospitality industry. Our recent collaboration with IGBC is a significant step in this direction, reinforcing our commitment to reducing our environmental footprint and promoting sustainable practices. Together, we aim to create a greener and more eco-friendly future for our industry and our planet.”
He further emphasized the importance of streamlining and simplifying licensing procedures to enhance the Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) in the industry. Mr. Shetty stressed the need for online processes to reduce administrative burdens on applicants, saying, “For the prosperity and growth of the industry, it needs a business-friendly environment with reduced administrative complexities. We will continue to engage with the policymakers and the Government to bring around the much-needed changes towards the EoDB initiative.”
In the new term, Mr. Nirav Gandhi will continue in office as the Senior Vice President, Mr. Chetan Mehta will serve as Vice President, Mr. Jimmy Shaw will be the Honorary Secretary, and Mr. Paramjit S. Ghai will take on the role of Honorary Treasurer of HRAWI. Additionally, Mr. Gurbir Bedi will assume the position of Joint Honorary Secretary.
With the re-election of Pradeep Shetty and the new leadership team, HRAWI is poised to continue its mission of advocating for the hospitality industry’s growth, sustainability, and business-friendly environment.
