In a landmark move for the food and beverage (F&B) industry, the National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) has expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Delhi Government for a reform that significantly eases restaurant operations in the national capital. Under the leadership of Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena and Hon’ble Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta, the Delhi Government has abolished the long-standing requirement of the Delhi Police Eating House License for restaurants—ushering in a new era of simplified processes and enhanced ease of doing business.
This progressive directive eliminates one of the key regulatory hurdles for restaurants, offering a much-needed relief particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises. By reducing administrative red tape, the change is expected to encourage greater investment in the F&B sector and boost revenue for the government through increased economic activity.
“This decision is a game-changer for thousands of restaurateurs,” said Sagar Daryani, President of NRAI. “We extend our sincere thanks to both the Central and Delhi Government for listening to the industry’s concerns. Removing the Eating House License requirement will reduce delays and operational complexities that have long plagued our sector. It’s a huge win not just for existing restaurants but also for aspiring entrepreneurs looking to enter this space.”
Echoing this sentiment, Sandeep Anand Goyle, Head of NRAI’s Delhi Chapter, added, “This is a monumental achievement for the restaurant industry in Delhi. We deeply appreciate the government’s responsiveness in addressing long-standing issues. This move will drive entrepreneurship, employment generation, and create a more business-friendly ecosystem for the F&B sector. It is also a strong validation of NRAI’s persistent advocacy over the years.”
The NRAI reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with government bodies to build a robust, supportive, and forward-thinking environment for India’s restaurant industry.
