₹1,100 Crore Investment in Chennai: Brigade Hotels Signs Agreement with Tamil Nadu Government

– Shalini Chandrasekar

With the aim of transforming Tamil Nadu into a global tourist destination, the ‘Tamil Nadu Global Tourism Conference 2026’ commenced grandly today (February 2, 2026) in Mamallapuram, Chengalpattu district. On the first day of the conference, held in the presence of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, Brigade Hotel Ventures, a leading real estate and hotel group, signed a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Tamil Nadu.

₹1,100 Crore Investment – 3 New Hotels
According to the agreement, the company will establish three new international-standard luxury hotels in Chennai with an investment of approximately ₹1,100 crore. This is expected to take Chennai’s hospitality sector to the next level.

Hotels to be established:

  • Grand Hyatt: To be located on the East Coast Road (ECR), Chennai.
  • JW Marriott: To be located on the Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR), Chennai.
  • Courtyard by Marriott: To be located within the Chennai World Trade Center complex.

1000 New Job Opportunities

This new project will add more than 500 rooms to Chennai’s hotel sector. Importantly, Brigade has stated that this investment will create over 1,000 high-paying job opportunities for young people, both directly and indirectly.

Tamil Nadu Government’s Goal

Speaking after inaugurating the conference, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin said, “Today alone, 127 MoUs worth ₹22,794 crore have been signed in the Tamil Nadu tourism sector. Brigade’s ₹1,100 crore investment will play a crucial role in improving Chennai’s infrastructure.” The Bengaluru-based Brigade Group is already implementing various projects in Chennai across an area of more than 12 million square feet. These new hotel projects are considered a milestone in transforming Chennai into an international business and tourism hub.
