UNOX India has initiated its first Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project in the country, titled “Baking a Better Tomorrow.” The initiative, launched in partnership with Learn for Life, an NGO dedicated to empowering children and youth from low socioeconomic backgrounds, aims to equip young individuals with essential skills, education, and pathways toward sustainable livelihood opportunities in the hospitality and food industry.
Inaugural Workshop and Implementation
The “Baking a Better Tomorrow” program kicked off with an inaugural workshop held on October 14 (coinciding with World Food Day) at the UNOX Experience Centre in Gurgaon.
The workshop hosted 30 students from NGOs across Delhi who are associated with Learn for Life. The participants received hands-on exposure to professional baking techniques utilizing UNOX’s advanced, cutting-edge technologies. Under the direct guidance of UNOX chefs, the students engaged with modern, industry-standard equipment, gaining practical skills and building the confidence necessary to prepare for potential careers in modern commercial kitchens.
Focus on Opportunity and Skill Development
Vikram Goel, Regional Director, UNOX India & SEA, underscored the initiative’s core mission: “On World Food Day, our focus was simple: convert access to equipment into access to opportunity. By teaching practical skills on technology used by industry professionals, we aim to help young people imagine and prepare for careers in modern kitchens.”
Michael and Nicole, Programme Leads at Learn for Life, emphasized the profound impact of the program, noting that the partnership is focused on empowerment over handouts. For the participants, the workshop served as a crucial first step toward securing sustainable futures within the baking and broader hospitality sector.
Recognized by Italian Diplomacy
The inaugural workshop was honored by the presence of Davide Colombo, Deputy Head of the Economic and Innovation Department, Embassy of Italy, New Delhi, who served as the Chief Guest. Colombo praised the effort, stating: “It is inspiring to witness an Italian company in India combine innovation and education to empower youth. This initiative shows how technology and skill development together can create meaningful opportunities for future generations.”
