Moustache Group Targets 50 New Hotels by 2028

-KH News Desk (editorial1@imaws.org)

The Moustache Group of Hotels, known initially for its backpacker hostels, has unveiled an ambitious growth strategy centered on a major expansion of its Select Portfolio. The group announced plans to launch an impressive 50 additional properties by 2028, beginning with the opening of a new Select property in Manali. This aggressive development is part of a strategic shift to strengthen the group’s presence in the mid-budget, family- and business-driven travel segments, alongside its other verticals, which include Luxuria for premium experiential stays.

Strategic Focus on the Select Mid-Budget Segment

The expansion is primarily focused on the Select segment, which targets travelers seeking quality stays at the right price, catering to the burgeoning mid-budget travel market. The Group has identified key northern destinations for its three-year expansion, with target cities including:

  • Manali (where the first new property is located)

  • Kasol

  • Shimla

  • Nainital

  • Mcleodganj

The choice of Manali for the launch of the new Select property is strategic, as it is considered one of India’s strongest mid-range hotel markets with consistent demand. Abhishek Khandelwal, Founder and Director, Moustache Group of Hotels, noted the area’s current surge in footfall and year-round inflow, making it “the ideal destination to introduce a Select property.” The new Manali hotel features 49 keys.

Ambitious Revenue and Growth Projections

The aggressive growth strategy is directly tied to the group’s financial goals. Deepak Agarwal, Founder and Director, Moustache Group of Hotels, commented on the potential of this vertical: “Select segment is expected to contribute 40 to 50% of the company’s projected 100 crore revenue by 2026.”

The company anticipates a strong performance in the immediate future, projecting a 10% uptick in business within the Select vertical in the upcoming season alone. The group is focusing heavily on the Select properties that demonstrate strong long-term potential and align with the brand’s core ethos. By narrowing its focus and deepening its expertise in this vertical, Moustache aims to offer sharply curated, high-value experiences that strengthen customer loyalty across its distinct brand offerings.
