Fairfield by Marriott Kolkata has announced the appointment of Somrup Chanda as its new General Manager. With a career spanning more than 20 years, Chanda brings a wealth of expertise in hotel operations, revenue maximization, marketing, and customer experience.
Chanda’s professional journey began with Hyatt in the Food & Beverage department, where he worked with brands like Grand Hyatt, Park Hyatt, and Hyatt Regency. He later transitioned to Marriott International, playing a key role in the launch of India’s first Sheraton Grand and the rebranding of the Indore Marriott Hotel. His international exposure includes leadership tenures with Accor in Kolkata and IHG in Abu Dhabi.
Most recently, Chanda served as the Director of Operations at the Bangalore Marriott Hotel Whitefield, where he was instrumental in stabilizing operations and positioning the property as Karnataka’s largest single-branded hotel. In his new role at Fairfield by Marriott Kolkata, he will focus on enhancing guest satisfaction and driving operational excellence in the competitive East India market.
