Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced a milestone development for the state’s hospitality sector: the establishment of the first-ever five-star hotel in Silchar, located in the strategically significant Barak Valley. The project will be developed by the Polo Towers Group, the Northeast’s largest hospitality company, which is renowned for pioneering luxury tourism in previously underserved regions.
We envision the upcoming Polo Towers Silchar as a high-end destination that caters to the growing influx of business travelers and tourists in Southern Assam. The announcement follows the state government’s broader vision to transform the Barak Valley into a hub of economic activity and connectivity, bolstered by the proposed Greenfield Airport at Doloo.
Key Features of the Project:
-
Capacity: The hotel is expected to feature approximately 120 guest rooms and suites, offering international luxury standards.
-
Events & MICE: Large-scale banqueting facilities and meeting rooms designed to host corporate conferences, government summits, and social celebrations.
-
Lifestyle Amenities: Premium dining outlets, a wellness spa, and a fitness center, providing a much-needed luxury social space for the local community.

Deval Tibrewalla, CEO and Director of Polo Towers Group, whose group recently filed for an IPO (February 2026), has been a vocal advocate for “Nature-Friendly Development” in the Northeast. Speaking on the group’s expansion strategy, Tibrewalla has emphasized that their vision is to establish a high-quality hotel in every major city of the Northeast, similar to their successful first-of-its-kind five-star launch in Agartala, Tripura.
The project is expected to be a major catalyst for job creation in the Cachar district and will significantly elevate the profile of Silchar as a key gateway to neighboring states like Manipur and Mizoram.
