The Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has announced the signing of a new resort property in the Sawai Madhopur district of Rajasthan, which will operate under the brand’s iconic Taj banner. This project is a greenfield development and is strategically positioned as a luxury wildlife resort that is set to offer sustainable hospitality experiences in close proximity to the renowned Ranthambore National Park.
Resort Design, Features, and Location
Nestled in the wilderness, the new Taj resort is planned to be a 75-key property that includes a selection of suites and villas, many of which will feature exclusive amenities such as private courtyards and plunge pools. The culinary offerings at the resort will encompass an all-day dining restaurant, a specialized specialty restaurant, a bar, and a dedicated safari lounge designed for guests planning or returning from wildlife excursions. Beyond dining, the resort will provide comprehensive guest facilities, including flexible meeting spaces, a heated swimming pool, a lavish spa, a modern fitness centre, and a salon.
Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director and CEO, IHCL, emphasized the strategic importance of the location, noting, “Having pioneered tourism in Rajasthan, IHCL has positioned the state on the global tourism map with its portfolio of landmark hotels showcasing the region’s cultural richness.” He added that the enhanced connectivity to Sawai Madhopur is now “opening up new avenues for hospitality,” making the Ranthambore National Park increasingly accessible to discerning travellers.
Commitment to Sustainability (Paathya Framework)
In alignment with IHCL’s overarching ESG+ framework known as Paathya, the new resort has committed to incorporating several eco-sensitive features into its design and operation. These features include the use of solar-powered amenities, robust rainwater harvesting systems, and the use of locally sourced sustainable materials throughout the property’s construction and finishings.
The resort is being developed in partnership with Vanivinayak Hospitality LLP. Vibhishek Singh and Abhishek Pal Singh, Partners, Vanivinayak Hospitality LLP, expressed their enthusiasm, stating, “We are excited to collaborate with IHCL to bring a luxury wildlife resort to Sawai Madhopur. This partnership marks a milestone in our journey to promote sustainable tourism in the region.”
