India Drives Marriott’s Record Growth in APEC with 187 Deals and 28,000 Rooms in 2025

-KH News Desk (editorial1@imaws.org)

Marriott International has reported its third consecutive year of record-breaking development in the Asia Pacific excluding China (APEC) region. In 2025, the global hospitality giant signed 187 organic deals representing over 28,000 rooms, marking a significant 32% year-over-year increase. The region concluded the year with a pipeline of over 400 hotels and 86,000 rooms.

India stood at the forefront of this expansion, contributing 99 deals and 12,000 rooms—the highest in the APEC region. A major milestone in the Indian market was the global debut of Series by Marriott™, launched via a massive multi-unit agreement that converted 26 hotels (operating as Fern Hotels & Resorts) in a single day.

The growth was further bolstered by strong performance in the luxury segment, which accounted for 19% of signings, including flagship brands like JW Marriott and The Ritz-Carlton. Conversions remained a strategic pillar, making up 35% of total signings, while multi-unit agreements contributed nearly 30%.

In terms of openings, Marriott added 109 properties in 2025, reaching its 700th regional property milestone with the Legacy Mekong, Can Tho, Autograph Collection in Vietnam. The company now operates over 730 properties across 22 countries in the APEC region.

Key 2025 Signings & Openings:

  • JW Marriott Hotel Johor Bahru (Malaysia)

  • Pottuvil, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve (Sri Lanka)

  • The Farm at San Benito, Autograph Collection (Philippines debut)

  • Moxy Kathmandu (Nepal debut)
