The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), India’s largest hospitality company, has significantly reinforced its presence in Rajasthan by announcing the signing of a new Gateway hotel in Mahapura, Jaipur. This greenfield project marks a major strategic milestone, bringing IHCL’s total portfolio in the Pink City to an impressive 16 hotels, including five currently under development. The new hotel, named Gateway Mahapura, Jaipur, is a strategic response to the city’s evolving demand profile, which is transitioning from a traditional leisure and MICE hub to a vital commercial center.
The development is a result of a partnership between IHCL and Shri Modi Group, signaling strong confidence in the commercial viability of Jaipur’s infrastructural growth corridors. The new hotel will be located along the bustling NH48 Jaipur Ajmer Road, a key artery that enhances accessibility for both business and leisure travelers entering and exiting the city. This particular location highlights IHCL’s strategy to tap into the rising demand generated by Jaipur’s emergence as a major business travel hub.
Strategic Location and Operational Scale
The new Gateway Mahapura, Jaipur will feature 161 well-appointed keys, offering a robust capacity to cater to the expected surge in business and transient traffic. The hotel’s design and amenity mix reflect its mandate to serve a dual demographic of travelers—those seeking the city’s cultural vibrance and those on business-related visits.
The offerings are comprehensive, designed to provide a full-service experience synonymous with the Gateway brand’s focus on essential comfort and connectivity. Key amenities will include an all-day dining restaurant, a specialty restaurant, and a bar, ensuring diverse culinary options for guests. For recreation and wellness, the property will feature a swimming pool and a state-of-the-art fitness center.
Crucially, the hotel is positioning itself as a major venue for events and gatherings. It will house a spacious banquet hall spanning over 9,000 sq. ft., making it an ideal destination for large-scale events such as conferences, social gatherings, and weddings. This strong MICE infrastructure is pivotal for capturing the high-value meetings and events segment, which is increasingly relocating to convenient and well-connected destinations like Mahapura.
Leadership Vision on Jaipur’s Changing Dynamics

The announcement underscores IHCL’s deep belief in Jaipur’s long-term growth potential beyond its historic tourism appeal. Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President – Real Estate & Development, IHCL, commented on the strategic rationale for the new development: “Witnessing a surge in demand beyond its traditional leisure and MICE segments, Jaipur has evolved into a multifaceted destination. The city’s infrastructural growth and its emergence as a commercial centre has made it a hub for business travel and Gateway Mahapura, Jaipur will cater to this rising demand. We are delighted to partner with Shri Modi Group for this project.”
Venkatesh’s remarks highlight the company’s forward-thinking approach, recognizing that modern infrastructure—such as the connectivity provided by NH48—is transforming Jaipur into a regional economic powerhouse. The Gateway brand, known for its dynamic, full-service approach in secondary and gateway locations, is perfectly suited to capitalize on this emerging business travel market.

Antariksh Modi, Managing Director, Shri Modi Group, the hotel’s owning company, also expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration: “We are delighted to collaborate with IHCL to bring the Gateway brand to Mahapura. This partnership marks a significant milestone in our vision to contribute to Jaipur’s growing hospitality demand.”
IHCL’s Unmatched Footprint in Rajasthan
With this latest signing, IHCL’s total portfolio in Jaipur alone now stands at 16 hotels, including the five that are under active development. This unparalleled density of properties across its various brands—which include Taj, SeleQtions, Vivanta, and now Gateway—positions IHCL as the undisputed leader in the Rajasthani capital.
This strong, multifaceted presence allows IHCL to target every segment of the traveler market, from ultra-luxury leisure guests seeking heritage experiences to business travelers requiring modern, efficient accommodation. The addition of Gateway Mahapura not only solidifies this dominance but also ensures that IHCL is proactively capturing the out-of-city center business demand, which is crucial for sustainable, diversified growth in Tier-I cities. The new hotel is a cornerstone in IHCL’s strategy to maintain its leadership position in India’s most important tourism and increasingly commercial circuits.
