Marriott International has reached a major regional milestone with the opening of Legacy Mekong, Can Tho, Autograph Collection in Vietnam, marking the company’s 700th property in the Asia Pacific excluding China (APEC) region. This achievement underscores Marriott’s strategic focus on expanding thoughtfully into diverse and culturally rich destinations beyond traditional gateway cities.
Legacy Mekong, Can Tho: A Storied Debut
The new hotel is a significant addition to the Autograph Collection brand, joining Vinpearl Landmark 81, Autograph Collection as the second property under this brand in Vietnam. The Autograph Collection philosophy, which promotes properties that are “Exactly Like Nothing Else,” is showcased through the hotel’s deep integration with local culture.

Location: The resort is situated on a private islet along the Hau River in Can Tho, introducing storytelling-driven hospitality to the heart of Vietnam’s lush Mekong Delta, often referred to as the “Rice Basket of Vietnam.” It is approximately a three-hour drive from Ho Chi Minh City.

Accommodation: Legacy Mekong, Can Tho features 86 elegantly designed bungalows and private pool villas, surrounded by eight hectares of tropical gardens on Au Islet. The design is inspired by the region’s natural elements, such as mangroves, banyan trees, and fruit orchards.

APEC Expansion: Across the APEC region, Marriott now operates 700 properties across 27 brands in 22 countries, with an additional 400 properties in the development pipeline. The region is one of the world’s fastest-growing travel markets, with Vietnam alone welcoming over 17 million international visitors in the first 10 months of 2025.
