The Hosteller, India’s largest self-operated backpacker hostel chain, has announced the launch of The Hosteller BAM Vagamon in Kerala. Perched on a contoured hilltop in the Idukki district, the property is designed as a “slow-travel” sanctuary, targeting the growing demographic of digital nomads, trekking enthusiasts, and road trippers exploring the quieter corridors of the Western Ghats.
The Vagamon debut is part of the brand’s premium ‘BAM’ portfolio, which emphasizes tech-enabled stays and high-end experiential features. The property offers 86 beds, balancing the social atmosphere of a hostel with the privacy of a boutique resort.
Key Features of the Vagamon Property:
-
Nature-Immersive Stay: The inventory includes a mix of dormitories and private rooms, highlighted by premium stargazing cottages featuring glass-sloped roofs and superior cottages equipped with balcony bathtubs overlooking the plantations.
-
Lifestyle Amenities: Guests have access to an infinity pool with panoramic valley views, a poolside bonfire area, and a dedicated “Games Zone” with pool tables and indoor activities.
-
Workation Friendly: The hostel offers high-speed Wi-Fi, power backup, and dedicated co-working corners, complemented by the in-house Myngl Café, which serves comfort meals and vegetarian-friendly options.
-
Pet-Friendly & Inclusive: Reflecting the brand’s community-first ethos, the property is pet-friendly and maintains a strict adult-only policy (18+) to preserve the backpacking culture.

Pranav Dangi, Founder and CEO of The Hosteller, commented: “Vagamon is quickly emerging as one of South India’s most exciting backpacking destinations. It offers the perfect elevation and quiet that travelers look for in a hill escape. Our goal is to provide a standardized, tech-first, and community-led experience that encourages travelers to stay longer and connect deeply with the local landscape.”
The expansion aligns with The Hosteller’s aggressive growth strategy following its ₹48 crore Series A funding. The brand aims to scale to 10,000 beds by the end of March 2026, deepening its presence in “offbeat” locations like Vagamon while maintaining its stronghold in major travel hubs.
