The Westin Mumbai Powai Lake has announced the appointment of Chef Balvinder Lubana as its new Executive Chef. In this dual-property role, Chef Lubana will oversee the complete culinary operations for both The Westin Mumbai Powai Lake and the adjacent Lakeside Chalet, Marriott Executive Apartments.
Chef Balvinder brings over 16 years of experience in the luxury hospitality sector, including a notable tenure as Executive Chef at the Goa Marriott Resort & Spa. His career is marked by leadership in large-scale banqueting, destination weddings, and innovative F&B concepts like Marriott Bonvoy on Wheels. Notably, he also served as a member of the Marriott APEC Culinary Advisory Board, where he contributed to regional culinary standards and sustainability via the Marriott Environment & Sustainability Hub (MESH).
In his new position, Chef Lubana will focus on elevating guest experiences through wellness-driven cuisine and sustainable kitchen practices—key pillars of the Westin brand. He is a staunch advocate for team mentorship, believing that “consistency builds trust” and that strong systems are the foundation of exceptional dining.
Chef Balvinder Lubana remarked on his leadership philosophy: “Lead from the front, mentor with intent, and never compromise on quality or values. While exceptional food creates excitement, it is consistency, strong systems, and empowered teams that build long-term guest trust.”
