Blue Moon Releases Little Pies To Go With Their Beer

It can be difficult to pick what kind of pie to offer during Thanksgiving because of the guest list, everyone’s personal preferences, and various allergy allowances. You prefer pumpkin, but your in-laws prefer sweet potato, and if your nephew is there, pecan is out. However, Blue Moon Brewing Company may have just made your selection easier by recommending a pie that goes well with your beer.

But, to take things a step further, Blue Moon is inviting you to (temporarily) forego garnishing your pint glass with an orange slice in lieu of a tiny pie. The Denver-based beer firm collaborated with Baked by Melissa founder Melissa Ben-Ishay to develop three different pies that are great seasonal partners for Blue Moon Beer.

“Blue Moon’s orange wheel garnish is so iconic that it would take something extraordinary for us to even consider altering it” said Leah Bowman, an Associate Marketing Manager at Molson Coors. “We knew we needed to make something unique that was both exciting and unexpected, as well as ideally linked to the flavors that make our beer unique”.

The Spiced Citrus Pumpkin Pie, with a hint of orange, is designed to complement the flavour of Blue Moon Belgian White; Coconut Citrus, with a decadent coconut-orange filling, can accompany a glass of Moon Haze; and Tropic Sky Pie, with mango and pineapple custard, pairs with LightSky Citrus Wheat and Tropical Wheat.

“Whenever I create a new cupcake flavor or develop a new recipe, I’m obsessed with obtaining the ideal bite” Ben-Ishay explains, “You get the perfect pint and sip with Blue Moon Pie Pints! And we’ll just add that there’s no reason you have to serve these mini-pies with a cold beer: you could just as well wash them down with a glass of milk, your favorite after-dinner drink, or, uh, a second pie”.
