Amazon India Elaborate In Bengaluru

The expansion of Amazon Food, the food delivery service offered by Amazon India has been announced for expansion across Bengaluru. Amazon Food has established a system that permits the use of 62 pint codes in major areas of the city, such as JP Nagar, Frazer Town, Malleshwaram, Rajajinagar and Vijayanagar. The ability to order from reputable and certified restaurants and local cloud kitchens has become available to residents.

Wrapping fees have been waived for all customers temporarily as a limited time offer. Customers can also enjoy exciting restaurant deals and Amazon Pay cashback. In Bengaluru, customers can choose from 48 delicious dishes and cuisines like Italian, biryani, burgers, Indian, Chinese, desserts from over 2500 restaurants and cloud kitchens that follow strict safety protocols. Starting at 7:00 a.m., customers can place an order for food on Amazon Food until 11:00 p.m. every day.

Sameer Khetarpal, Director of Category Management at Amazon India reported that, “With the expansion of Amazon Food in Bengaluru, we continue in our endeavor to offer unmatched convenience and value while being a part of their everyday lives. Amazon Food brings some of the city’s top restaurants including national outlets and as well as local favorites which are popular and follow strict delivery and safety protocols”.

The food delivery industry in India is a duo of Zomato, which is supported by Ant Financial and Swiggy, both of which are valued by analysts at Bank of America and have accumulated over 90% market share. After selling its local grocery business to Zomato in India, Uber departed from the food delivery industry early last year. Amazon Food’s expansion also comes as market leader Zomato prepares to file for an IPO, according to analysts.

It is challenging to penetrate the Indian food delivery market due to local factors. The cost of a similar product in India is $4, while it costs around $33 for each delivery, as per research firms, unlike other developed markets like the US. Over the last year, Zomato and Swiggy have experienced a significant improvement in their unit financials.
