Indian Bakery Owners To Boycott Turkish-Origin Products

-KH News Desk (cbedit@imaws.org)

New Delhi : The Indian Bakers Federation (IBF), the voice of India’s baking and confectionery community, has officially called upon its members and the wider industry to cease the use of Turkish-origin products with immediate effect. This industry-wide boycott includes raw materials such as dried fruits, cocoa products, nuts, improvers, gels, flavor additives, packaging solutions, and even bakery machinery sourced from Turkey.

This strategic move stems from heightened national concerns and the Federation’s growing emphasis on ethical, self-reliant, and locally supported sourcing. The IBF advocates that the bakery and confectionery industry stand in solidarity with national interest and re-evaluate procurement practices.

The Indian Bakers Federation (IBF), established to unify and represent the interests of bakers across the country, works actively to promote quality, innovation, and sustainability in the sector. With a pan-India presence and a growing membership of MSME business owners, IBF serves as a vital platform for advocacy, knowledge-sharing, and industry development. It upholds representation and engages with all relevant government and regulatory bodies that influence the growth, policies, and welfare of bakery and confectionery MSMEs.

“This is not just a political statement — it is a collective moral and economicstance,” said Mr. Anburajan, President, Indian Bakers Federation. “We urge every stakeholder in our industry to make responsible choices and
actively shift to Indian or friendly-market alternatives.”

Call to Action:

● Immediately discontinue Turkish-origin bakery ingredients, machinery, and packaging.
● Prioritize sourcing from Indian and allied-friendly regions.
● Encourage ethical and self-reliant supply chains that strengthen our domestic ecosystem.

The Federation believes this move will not only reinforce India’s economic independence but also present an opportunity for local innovation and sustainable growth.
