Flagship Project Site in Kochi
WGH Hotels & Resorts Pvt. Ltd. had the honor of hosting Hon. Minister for Industry, Government of Kerala, Shri P. Rajeev at the site of its upcoming flagship project in Kochi. This visit marks a pivotal moment for the group, as the luxury development was one of the prestigious projects highlighted at the Kerala Global Investment Meet. The project aligns closely with the state government’s focus on promoting sustainable and experience-oriented tourism.
A Legacy Rooted in Heritage
WGH entered Kerala’s tourism and hospitality sector in 2012 with the acquisition of World Backwaters Alleppey. Since then, the group has expanded its footprint with properties in Alleppey, Munnar, and Thekkady. Continuing this journey, WGH is now developing new projects in Kochi, Varkala, Trivandrum, and Ashtamudi—including a world-class wellness resort—each designed to global standards and inspired by Kerala’s cultural richness.
A Landmark Project for Kochi
During the minister’s visit, WGH will present the master plan and design vision for its Kochi project, which is slated to open on January 1, 2028. This upcoming luxury destination aims to set a new standard in hospitality by blending state-of-the-art amenities with the charm and authenticity of Kerala’s traditional experiences.
Partnering in Kerala’s Tourism Vision
Jayakrishnan, Director of World Group and WGH Hotels & Resorts, expressed deep appreciation for the state government’s pro-investment stance. “Kerala’s commitment to infrastructure development and progressive tourism policies perfectly complement our vision. Our goal is to foster sustainable and responsible tourism while offering guests a truly immersive taste of Kerala’s unique culture and heritage,” he said.
Strengthening Communities and Investing in Growth
With nearly 40 years of diversified business experience spanning mining, DRI, retail, logistics, agriculture, and consulting, the World Group has invested INR 250 crores in Kerala’s hospitality sector over the past two years. An additional INR 500 crores is earmarked for future projects, including resorts, a hospitality college in Kochi, and a statewide chain of vegetarian restaurants.
The proposed hospitality college aims to train 200 professionals annually, nurturing local talent and raising industry standards. Meanwhile, the upcoming Varkala and Ashtamudi resorts—scheduled to launch by 2027—are poised to strengthen WGH’s position as a major player in Kerala’s fast-evolving tourism landscape.
