IHCL Signs 100-Key Ginger Hotel in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu

-KH News Desk (editorial1@imaws.org)

The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has announced its foray into Tuticorin (Thoothukudi), Tamil Nadu, with the signing of a new Ginger-branded hotel. This greenfield project is a strategic partnership with Thangam Real Estate & Thangam Plots & Farms Pvt. Ltd., marking a significant milestone in IHCL’s expansion into the state’s high-growth industrial corridors.

Project Highlights & Strategic Location

The upcoming hotel is designed to cater to the increasing influx of business travelers and long-stay professionals in the region.

  • Key Specifications: A 100-key (room) property featuring Ginger’s signature Qmin restaurant, a lively bar, versatile meeting spaces, and a modern fitness center.

  • Strategic Location: Situated along the Tirunelveli–Tuticorin highway, providing seamless access to the city’s major port, industrial zones, and commercial districts.

  • Economic Drivers: The signing addresses the rising demand from mega-projects in the automobile and energy sectors, alongside Tuticorin’s traditional strengths in maritime trade, salt production, and fishing.

Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President – Real Estate & Development, IHCL: “Tuticorin is emerging as a key economic hub in South India… The growth of mega projects in the automobile and energy sectors has created significant long-stay demand, making it an ideal market for Ginger’s presence. This signing reinforces IHCL’s commitment to catering to evolving needs in high-potential destinations.”

R. Gajendran, Promoter, Thangam Real Estate: “We are delighted to partner with IHCL and bring the Ginger brand to Tuticorin, offering contemporary hospitality to the city’s growing business segment.”

Expanding Footprint in Tamil Nadu

With the addition of Ginger Tuticorin, IHCL’s portfolio in Tamil Nadu reaches a total of 28 hotels, including 10 properties currently under development. This move underscores the company’s “Asset-Light” growth strategy and its focus on Tier-II and Tier-III industrial hubs.
