PepsiCo India Takes Sustainable Packaging Leap with 100% rPET Bottles for Pepsi Black

KH News Desk (cbdigital@imaws.org)

PepsiCo India, a global consumer packaged goods company, has made an exciting announcement. They are introducing 100% recycled plastic (rPET) bottles for their Pepsi Black carbonated beverage category. This move reflects PepsiCo India’s commitment to building a positive value chain and promoting a circular, inclusive economy where packaging is never wasted.

George Kovoor, the Senior Vice President of Beverages and Sustainability at PepsiCo India, expresses, “We are encouraged by the measures taken by the Government to promote a circular economy in India. We are proud to launch the 100% rPET bottles of Pepsi Black. This is an important milestone in our sustainability journey, backed by our intent to create a positive value chain, and this launch is yet another step in that direction. We shall learn and evolve as we continue our endeavors to build a robust ecosystem while expanding the use of recycled content in our packaging.”

The company takes pride in its intent to create a positive value chain, and this launch marks another step in that direction. Pepsi Black rPET bottles are manufactured in India through a partnership with Srichakra Polyplast (India) Private Limited, in collaboration with bottling partner Varun Beverages.

Guided by its “Winning with pep+” philosophy, PepsiCo India recognizes the importance of comprehensive efforts to reduce, recycle, and reinvent packaging. This latest initiative demonstrates their unwavering commitment to sustainable practices and their active role in contributing to a greener future.
