A culinary extravaganza of global proportions is on the horizon as FHA-HoReCa, Asia’s premier hospitality event, joins forces with the World Association of Chefs Societies, Worldchefs, to host Singapore’s inaugural Global Chefs Challenge Finals. This much-anticipated event will gather the world’s most exceptional chefs to showcase their culinary prowess, featuring an exciting addition – the Global Vegan Chefs Challenge.
The Global Chefs Challenge Finals will see participation from the top 72 chefs representing 25 countries, all of whom earned their spots based on outstanding performances at the Worldchefs Regional Semi-Finals held in 2023. This culinary showdown is slated to take place at the Singapore Expo from October 22 to 25, 2024. It will be a prominent segment of FHA-HoReCa, the most comprehensive international trade show in Asia covering five key segments within the food service and hospitality industry.
Ian Roberts, Vice President of Informa Markets, shared his enthusiasm for this groundbreaking partnership, saying, “In 2024, the Global Chef Challenge will ignite the culinary world, and together, we’ll redefine the art of gastronomy on a global scale, inspiring chefs, tantalizing taste buds, and shaping the future of the culinary industry like never before.”
Adding an exciting dimension to the Global Chefs Challenge Finals, a new category will make its debut – the Global Vegan Chefs Challenge. This unique competition will showcase innovative chefs demonstrating their culinary skills while exclusively using vegan ingredients. Their creations will be devoid of animal proteins, emphasizing creativity and taste. Worldchefs President Thomas Gugler expressed his anticipation, highlighting the challenge’s role in expanding expertise and knowledge of Vegan Cuisine.
The competition will also include the Global Pastry Chefs Challenge, which will feature some of the world’s finest pastry chefs, and the Global Young Chefs Challenge, dedicated to emerging talents aged 25 and under. The top Young Chef will be honored with the prestigious Hans Bueschkens Trophy, named after Chef Hans J. Bueschkens, the former President of Worldchefs, who championed the development of programs aimed at nurturing young talents in the culinary industry.
The Global Chefs Challenge, a segment where participants demonstrate their culinary skills in high-pressure situations, ensures their creations are not only appetizing and flavorful but also exhibit exemplary plating for efficient service.
Making its return to Singapore after over three decades, the Worldchefs Congress is scheduled to take place from October 20 to 22, 2024, at the Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre. Supported by the Singapore Chefs’ Association, this biennial event provides an unparalleled platform for industry leaders to network, share knowledge, and advance their culinary skills. The event features expert presentations, educational programs, and culinary competitions.
The 2024 Global Chefs Challenge Finals and Worldchefs Congress promise to be a culinary extravaganza of the highest order, celebrating culinary excellence and innovation on a global scale in the dynamic city of Singapore.
President of the Singapore Chefs’ Association, Eric Neo, expressed his support for the event, saying, “SCA has a strong history of partnering with FHA in the organization of culinary competitions over the decades. We are pleased and excited to support this important culinary competition in our country.”
