In a significant expansion move, The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts, a prominent luxury hotel brand in India, has recently signed a management agreement for a new 140-room hotel in Ranka, Sikkim. This marks the brand’s debut in Northeast India, showcasing its commitment to providing unparalleled hospitality experiences across diverse regions.

Owned by the SIBIN Group, the upcoming project, Leela Sikkim, is strategically located approximately 10 kilometers from the capital city, set against the breathtaking backdrop of Gangtok Hill on a sprawling 17-acre plot. Anticipated to open its doors in December 2026, The Leela Sikkim aims to redefine the hospitality landscape of the region through its inspirational design, thoughtful programming, and the brand’s renowned signature services.

Mr. Anuraag Bhatnagar, CEO of The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion into Northeast India, stating, “We are delighted to introduce The Leela brand into Northeast India with the project Leela Sikkim. Sikkim remains a pristine destination with the right blend of urbanization, rich cultural heritage, and unexplored natural beauty.”

The Leela Sikkim is poised to offer an exclusive experience to guests, featuring 35 independent luxury villas, including 20 wellness villas, 13 twin villas, and a 6-room double-storey villa. Additionally, the hotel block will house 88 luxury rooms. The resort will boast various leisure and wellness facilities, along with a selection of dining options, including an all-day dining restaurant, a specialty restaurant, a wellness restaurant, and a lounge bar. State-of-the-art wellness facilities, a casino, and a range of indoor and outdoor activities will further enhance the guest experience.

Mr. Neel Chhetri, Proprietor of Sibin Group, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating, “I am excited to partner with The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts to bring this uber luxury brand to Sikkim. We are confident that with this partnership and the investments we are making, the project Leela Sikkim will soon emerge as one of the most sought-after leisure and wellness destinations in the country.”

This strategic move aligns with The Leela’s vision to grow its presence in key leisure and resort destinations across India, introducing travelers to the mystical charm of Sikkim, its rich culture, art, wellness offerings, distinctive flavors, and unexplored natural beauty.
