In a flavorful celebration of cultural diplomacy and gastronomic delights, the Sri Lanka Consulate General in Karachi joined hands with the Marriot Hotel and Quality Event Pvt. Ltd. to orchestrate a two-day Sri Lanka Food Festival at the prestigious Marriot Hotel in Karachi. This culinary extravaganza, which unfolded from September 9 to 10, 2023, was meticulously crafted to showcase the rich and diverse culinary heritage of Sri Lanka, spotlighting authentic Sri Lankan cuisine and the world-renowned Ceylon tea.

The festival was strategically timed as part of a broader series of events commemorating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The Honorable Minister of Home Affairs of the Sindh Province in Pakistan, Mr. Haris Nawaz, graced the occasion as the chief guest, infusing the event with prestige and significance. Drawing an enthusiastic crowd of approximately 150 invited guests, the festival became a gathering of cultural and culinary enthusiasts alike.

A focal point of the festival was the mesmerizing performances by Chandana Wickramasinghe & the Dancers Guild, complemented by the melodious tunes of Sri Lankan singer Sonal Prabashitha. These artistic presentations not only captivated the attendees but also added a vivid cultural dimension to the festivities, allowing guests to savor a slice of Sri Lanka’s vibrant arts scene.

The event garnered widespread attention and acclaim, receiving extensive coverage from major media outlets in Pakistan. This spotlight underscored the festival’s unique role in honoring the enduring diplomatic ties between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, making it a memorable milestone in the celebration of cultural exchange and culinary excellence.
