In order to meet the demand for ready meals (RTE) at home and globally, SATS Ltd has opened an airport services facility called STS Ltd. near Kempegowda International Airport. Even during the Covid era, Singapore has been India’s top investor in the past three years. “We have invested $50 billion to India (in the said duration), and SATS is a clear example of our resolve,” said Simon Wong, the High Commissioner of Singapore to India.
SFSI has invested a total of S$61 million to construct one of its largest food solutions facilities, including Central Kitchen, containing 2,21,000 square feet of frozen food production center, in addition to its existing large units in Singapore, China. Japan and Thailand. The capacity to manufacture and deliver RTE products on a daily basis is up to 40,000 kg.
SATS president and CEO Kerry Mok shares that, “Convenience and time-saving benefits have made RTE meals increasingly popular among busy urban consumers, students and working professionals.”
SATS research forecasts that RTE food sales in India will increase by 45% between 2021 and 2026, reaching $64 billion. The Ministry of Food Industry has estimated that by 2028, 34% of India’s population will consume more RTE meals due to young consumers and millennials. This suggests that the demand for India’s RTO products would exceed domestic demand.
SATS Food Solutions CEO Stanley Goh reported that, “Our food production capacity in Asia, including the new SFSI facility, will enable us to serve around 7, 50,000 meals a day, powering the RTE food era for the SATS network of customers in Asia and beyond”.
The integration of cutting-edge technology, including on-site IoT, has been achieved by SFSI. IoT sensors and sensor-based lighting systems monitor and save energy in real time, as well as maintain the facility’s ambient temperature, humidity, air quality and utilities such as cold storage and cooking stations to ensure food integrity and safety. Rainwater harvesting and advanced water recycling systems, ammonia as a natural refrigerant in cooling systems, solar panels for electricity are used to make the whole operation sustainable.
“SFSI’s culinary expertise and food technology know-how ensures food safety, appearance, nutrition and taste, and aligns with our own commitment to deliver the best value to our customers,” said Swiggy CEO (Food Marketplace) Rohit Kapoor.
