“World’s Most Advanced Airline” was won by Saudia at the 2024 Skytrax worldairline Awards, where it also took home the award for Best Economy Class Flight Service.
Edward Plaisted, CEO of Skytrax, exclaimed, “We congratulate Saudia on this fabulous achievement and this remarkable success. To be recognized for the change and quality improvement is a testament to the hard work of the management and staff at Saudia, and this recognition should be a source of pride.”
The event is organized by Skytrax, an international air traffic classification organization known for rating global air traffic. The World Airline Awards are based on an in-depth global customer satisfaction survey conducted over several months, covering more than 375 airlines worldwide.
“The World’s Most Advanced Airline” has been awarded to Saudia for the third time in recent years, marking a significant achievement. Over the last seven years, Saudi Arabia has experienced remarkable growth, climbing from 82nd to 23rd in 2023 and finally reaching 20th place in 2024.
Ibrahim Al-Omar, the Director General of Saudia Group, shares, “These awards reaffirm Saudia’s dedication to excellence and our commitment to achieving the objectives of the National Strategy for Transport and Logistics Services. By adhering to the highest quality standards in the aviation industry, we are continuously prioritizing service innovation by enhancing the guest experience and optimising operational efficiency.”
This is a remarkable achievement, as Saudianaa’s SHINE transformation programme has brought together several initiatives to improve guest experience, operational efficiency and product and service quality, marking the start of digital transformation and new frontiers in technology for Saudia. As a result of these efforts, Saudia has been ranked among the top 10 airlines in On-Time Performance (OTP) for 2023 for six consecutive months. Notably, Saudia ranked among the top five worldwide in May 2024 for on-time arrival (OTP-A) and on-time departure (OTP-D).
He concluded, “This unwavering dedication to excellence has positioned Saudia as a leading global connector, bridging the world to the Kingdom to serve a wide range of sectors including business, tourism, entertainment, sports, Hajj, and Umrah.”
Saudia has hit a clear direction for its future trajectory and strategy, putting it on Skytrax’s top list in the coming years. This is demonstrated by the recent signing of two large contracts with Boeing and Airbus for the acquisition of 154 new aircraft. Also, the guest cabin will undergo significant changes, including upgraded guest and business class seats as well as high-speed internet on flights and the aircraft’s entertainment screens being updated to the highest resolution in the industry.
