The Wendy’s Company has inked a fresh master franchise agreement with Flynn Restaurant Group, charting a course to establish 200 Wendy’s restaurants across Australia by 2034.
Flynn Restaurant Group, acclaimed as the globe’s largest restaurant franchise operator, is set to take on the role of exclusive master franchisee in Australia. This development follows Wendy’s earlier declaration of its intention to make a foray into the Australian market, viewing it as a prime growth market. The collaboration with Flynn Restaurant Group underscores Wendy’s commitment to expanding its international footprint through its successful franchising model.
The resounding success of a one-day Wendy’s pop-up event in Sydney last year, coupled with the overwhelming interest since the announcement of its Australian launch plans, attests to the fervent anticipation for Wendy’s arrival Down Under.
Abigail Pringle, President, International and Chief Development Officer of The Wendy’s Company, remarked, “Australia holds strategic significance for Wendy’s long-term growth. Flynn Restaurant Group boasts unparalleled expertise in the restaurant realm, and we are excited to enhance our partnership with them. With their adept leadership, strong corporate culture, extensive industry knowledge, and proven success with our brand in the U.S., Flynn Restaurant Group is undoubtedly the right collaborator to fuel Wendy’s expansion in Australia.”
Ron Bellamy, Chief Operating Officer of Flynn Restaurant Group, expressed enthusiasm about the extended partnership with Wendy’s. “We are truly thrilled to amplify our collaboration with Wendy’s. It’s an exceptional brand with immense untapped potential outside the U.S., making it an ideal fit for the Australian market, known for its discerning consumers. Our goal is to redefine QSR expectations while expanding the brand’s presence in the market,” Bellamy stated.
The agreement between Wendy’s and Flynn Restaurant Group foresees substantial growth in Australia, particularly post-2025. The aspiration is to establish 200 restaurants across the country by 2034, achieved through a combination of equity stores and sub-franchise partners.
Aside from Wendy’s, Flynn Restaurant Group operates eateries for prominent names like Applebee’s, Taco Bell, Panera, Arby’s, and Pizza Hut throughout the U.S. With their Wendy’s franchise organization, Wend American, they currently manage nearly 200 Wendy’s restaurants across five states.
